Sewer Lateral Protection Program 5/28/26
Washington Gas is pleased to offer affected properties a 20-year, no-cost to you Exterior Sewer/Septic Line Protection Program provided by Service Line Warranties of America, a HomeServe company. If you are on the route and are automatically enrolled in the Protection Program. No registration or paperwork is required.
Once the program is active, homeowners may contact SLWA directly to request service. SLWA will provide program details and contact information closer to the program start date. Additional information regarding program terms and coverage parameters will also be provided at that time.
This program is designed to provide long-term support for normal wear and tear issues that may occur with the exterior sewer or septic lines at the impacted properties.
It is important to note that this program does not cover damage that may occur during construction. Any construction-related issues will be handled separately by Washington Gas.
Each property along the construction route is eligible for covered repairs to exterior sewer or septic lines damaged by normal wear and tear, with no annual cap and no limit on the number of qualifying service calls during the 20-year coverage period. The per-service-call benefit increases over the term: up to $15,000 in years 1–5; $17,500 in years 6–10; $20,000 in years 11–15; and $22,500 in years 16–20. Any costs exceeding the per-service-call benefit limit in effect at the time of the repair are the homeowner’s responsibility.
The coverage lasts for 20 years, providing long-term protection for the property. Importantly, this coverage is tied to the property address, not the individual homeowner. Future residents automatically inherit the benefit if the property is sold, and coverage continues for the full 20-year term regardless of ownership changes.
The program will be administered by Utility Service Partners Private Label, Inc., also known as Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA), a subsidiary of HomeServe USA Corp., ensuring homeowners have a single point of contact for all service needs under the program.
Homeowners should contact SLWA directly to request service – closer to the program start date we will send you their contact details. There are no service call fees, and homeowners must contact SLWA before any work is performed.
Construction Announcement 3/9/26
As part of the Strip 1 Tysons Project, we will soon begin upgrading infrastructure to improve the delivery, safety, and reliability of natural gas service for Fairfax County. This project is necessary to maintain a safe, modern system and to meet current and future energy demands. Some of the infrastructure in the Pimmit Hills community is among the oldest in our system, with portions originally installed in 1948.
Construction is scheduled to begin on or after June 25 and will span approximately two miles in length. All work within the roadway will occur in the right-of-way and is permitted by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
Construction will be occurring along the entire route at the same time. The project is a two-year project, but construction can only occur each year from April 1 until October 31.
As permitted, work will typically be performed between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
We understand that you may have questions about the scheduled work, and we are committed to keeping the community informed throughout this project. Our Community Outreach Team will stay in regular contact with residents along the route through mail, email, and door‑to‑door outreach.
If construction will be occurring near your home in 2026, our Community Outreach Team will contact you in advance and invite you to a block meeting to learn more. At these meetings, our project team will be there to provide information and answer questions.
If you have questions or need additional information about this project, please contact us, Monday through Friday, during normal business hours. You can reach us by email at community@washgas.com or by phone at 703-750-5222.
Thank you for your patience as we perform this important work in your community.
