The Strip 1 Tysons Project advisories and public communications are listed below.
Due to VDOT restrictions on the use of steel plates within their right-of-way after November 1, construction on Peabody Drive has been suspended until the spring of 2019. Peabody Drive will be completely open for through traffic effective immediately. Washington Gas will resume work on Peabody Drive when VDOT’s seasonal steel plate restrictions are lifted. Prior to any work commencing, our outreach team will notify the residents along Peabody Drive. At that time, the parking restrictions and road closure will be reinstated. Residents along Peabody Drive will be notified at least 72 hours prior to work commencing.
As you may know, initial work has begun for the Lisle Avenue Regulator Station located at the Pimmit Hills Center. The work for the regulator station is taking place within the green construction fence and will continue throughout the fall and winter.
On or about the week of November 12, materials will be delivered to the site that require a crane. The crane will remove the materials from trucks and it will be placed within the construction area. The crane will be positioned on Lisle Avenue during the time that it is needed. Traffic control may be necessary during the unloading of the material. Residents can expect construction activities occurring at this site Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Construction work will continue on Magarity Road along the grassy strip east of Westgate Elementary School to approximately Anderson Road. Work will be occurring Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. As this work is not occurring in the roadway, this work will continue into the winter.
